With Americans maintaining a belief that younger generations represent the country’s most valuable and precious asset, the reality for many children is strikingly different. The child-poverty rate stands at 25 percent, and more than 670,000 children experience abuse each year. Unfortunately, resources to solve these problems are shrinking, as child advocacy groups are among the least-funded not-for-profit organizations.
The end result could mean America’s social challenges increasingly resembling those in the developing world, where life-and-death situations are more prevalent. Particularly in a time of the COVID-19 pandemic and reduced employment and social services, the need for support in filling safety-net gaps has never been more urgent.
The YFF works in tandem with donors to provide for children in areas where resources are most acutely needed. The YFF supports organizations actively working to make a difference in the area, including A Kid's Place of Tampa Bay, Joshua House, and For the Family.
