    About Jonathan Yob

Tampa Philanthropist and Child Welfare Advocate

A Tampa, Florida-based philanthropist, Jonathan Yob has drawn upon his passion for helping abused, neglected and underserved children for over 20 years. From providing first technology to foster families, to donating essential appliances, clothing and food directly to foster homes, to participating on nonprofit boards such as For The Family, Joshua House, Friends of Joshua House, Kids Charity of Tampa Bay, and A Kid’s Place (ex officio), as well as assisting many other child welfare related organizations, Yob has been an extremely dedicated advocate for the welfare of children throughout the Tampa Bay Area.
“When you visit many foster homes there’s an inescapable reality. The foster parents I have met have huge hearts, and generally modest means. Supporting them is vital to helping children who through no fault of their own, find themselves living in foster care. Of all of the Yob Family Foundation’s efforts, helping these children is one of the most precious”, stated Jon Yob in a recent interview.

As a founding member of Kids Charity of Tampa Bay, Yob collaborated with one of Florida’s most recognized child welfare advocates, the late Dottie Berger, as well as other like-minded individuals. Kids Charity of Tampa Bay conceptualized, funded, and built A Kid’s Place. A Kid’s Place in Brandon, Florida is now a model for shelters of abused and neglected children that enter the state welfare system. The A Kid’s Place campus was opened during Yob’s chairmanship of Kids Charity of Tampa Bay and has served thousands of children in need. In addition to funding many of the foundation’s activities, Yob also plays a supportive role by utilizing his entrepreneurial skill base, including diverse team building and formulating fundraising techniques for corporations, foundations, and individuals. His approach incorporates strategies for competitive sourcing, policy implementation and appropriate governance, in addition to conducting progress evaluations and performance analyses as funding initiatives develop. Furthermore, Jonathan Yob’s efforts facilitate collaboration among nonprofits and potential sponsors throughout Tampa and beyond.
Yob has led the YFF in supporting a variety of nonprofit and humanitarian organizations, such as Metropolitan Ministries, the Hillsborough Education Foundation, the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch, the Children’s Cancer Center, the Grammy Museum, the Tampa General Hospital Foundation, and the American Red Cross, just to mention a few.
